A chemical engineer, Mr. Cleret has more than 35 years of experience in the international oil and gas industry. After various executive assignments with Elf Aquitaine in the refining, marketing
and trading sector, Mr. Cleret served as Managing Director of Elf Oil UK Ltd and Board Director of Elf Petroleum GB from 1992 to 2000. He then joined PetroKazakhstan as Senior Vice President
Refining, Trading and Marketing.
In 2002, he became CEO of European Petroleum Holdings, a privately-owned Oil Company headquartered in Geneva with an oil refinery in Antwerp (BRC) and an international trading company
(Petrotrade) in Geneva, and oversaw its sale to Petroplus Intl. in 2006.
Since 2007, Mr. Cleret has essentially worked with private equity and investment funds on midstream and downstream investments, either in CEO or advisory position. As of 2007, he created and
operated European Energy Assets SA, a vehicle for acquisition, or acquisition of control, of businesses in the energy marketing and distribution sector.
From 2010 to 2013, he was CEO of Hestya Energy, a subsidiary of Riverstone Holdings LLC, an energy and power-focused US private equity firm. From July 2013 to April 2014, Mr. Cleret was CEO of
Milio International based in Dubai, a commercial oil company specialised in midstream and downstream fuel operations in complex and challenging environments.
He was Chairman of the UK Petroleum Industry Association and a Director of the UK Institute of Petroleum from 1998 to 2000, and is a Fellow of the Energy Institute.
